So you've chosen a life of war in Kingshot. You've heard the whispers of "buffs"—those magical boosts that turn a simple soldier into a beast. But how do you get them without selling your soul?
Don't worry, my liege. We're here to break down the most effective paths to power.
The Free Grind: A Peasant's Plight
Your primary source of buffs is a good old-fashioned grind. Your pets—the Moose and the Bear—are your free-to-play powerhouses. The Moose is a top-tier combat pet whose skills reduce enemy HP, while the Bear reduces enemy squad lethality. In the Academy, focus on the "Growth" and "Training" research sections to unlock permanent passive boosts.
The Gem-Fueled Power-Up: A Noble's Nudge
This is where your in-game currency, Gems, comes in. By spending them, you can increase your VIP Status, which offers a buffet of buffs, from faster upgrades to an extra construction queue. Aim for VIP level 8—the buffs here are a true game-changer. You can also use Gems to buy special, temporary buffs to win a crucial battle. Another great way to use gems is for city bonuses, which provide temporary but powerful boosts to your city's production and defenses.

The Political Game: A King's Appointment
Some of the most potent buffs are handed out by the reigning King of your State. If you're in a powerful alliance, your leader can appoint you to a position that grants a temporary but massive boost. The Field Commander boosts troop attack, while the Marshal can increase your army's march size. Get in good with your leader and earn your seat at the royal table.
Whether you're a free-to-play fighter or a credit card warrior, a path to power awaits. Just remember, a buff is only as good as the king who wields it. Now go forth and conquer, my friend.
(P.S. For those with a more... liquid treasury, there are also plenty of paid packs and purchases available, but we won't get into that today.)
